Secrets to Tastier Juices

If you would like to make your juice a bit tastier, especially in the beginning, you can add these elements:

  Coconut: You can purchase the whole coconut or use shredded organic coconut. Be sure it is free of propylene glycol. It adds a delightful flavor and is an excellent source of fat to balance the meal. Coconut has medium chain triglycerides, which have many health benefits.

Cranberries: You can also add some cranberries if you enjoy them. Researchers have discovered that cranberries have five times the antioxidant content of broccoli, which means they may protect against cancer, stroke and heart disease. In addition, they are chock full of phytonutrients and help many women avoid urinary tract infections. Limit the cranberries to about 4 ounces per pint of juice.

Lemons: You can also add half a lemon (leaving much of the white rind on). If you are a protein metabolic type, you will not want to use lemons as they will push your pH in the wrong direction.

Fresh ginger: This is an excellent addition if you can tolerate it. It gives your juice a little "kick"!

Grape-Celery Cooler

1 bunch of grapes
2 celery stalks

3 C's

3-4 carrots
1-2 celery stalks
A small wedge of cabbage

Sweetie

5 carrots
1 apple
1/2 beet

Carrot/Spinach Juice

6 oz. of raw spinach
10 oz. of raw carrots

Carrot/Beet/Cucumber Juice

4 oz. of raw beet (with leaves)
3 oz. of raw cucumber
9 oz. raw carrot

Carrot Lemonade

4-5 medium carrots
1/2 medium lemon
1 apple
1 small 1 1/2 - 2 " wedge red cabbage
1 round of ginger about the size of a quarter

Golden Smoothie

2 kiwi fruits
1 banana
1/2 cup orange juice
1/2 cup mango

Health Smoothie

1 firm kiwi fruit, peeled
1/4 cantaloupe with skin
1 ripe banana

Crazy 8's

1 kale leaf
1 collard leaf
A small handful of parsley
1 stalk of celery
1 carrot, greens removed
1/2 red pepper
1 tomato
1 broccoli floret celery stalk for garnish
